I am a very experienced private tutor who successfully coached hundreds of students to achieve their academic goals.
I studied at St Paul’s School for Boys in London before earning an MA in French and Italian from the University of Cambridge.
I am extremely passionate about languages - I have learnt over 20 foreign languages to various levels, of which I am fluent in at least 10!
I find it very rewarding to use my passion for languages and knowledge of exam technique to get my students to their personal goals.
So far, I have helped over 500 students to achieve, or exceed, their target grade in GCSEs and iGCSEs, A Levels and IB exams for a variety of languages.

French Grammar:
Imperfect Tense vs Perfect Tense
Live date: Saturday 3rd May - 9am
This workshop will go through the formation and use of both the Imperfect Tense and the Perfect Tense, before giving students a chance to put their understanding of this commonly tricky aspect of French GCSE/iGCSE into practice with exercises.

This workshop will go through the formation and use of the Present and Past Subjunctive, before giving students a chance to put their understanding of this very challenging aspect of French GCSE/iGCSE into practice with exercises.

This workshop will cover the most effective techniques for learning both grammar and vocabulary for French GCSE/iGCSE exams, based on my considerable experience as a language learner and tutor, having learnt over 20 languages to different levels and tutored 7 different languages successfully to many students for GCSE/iGCSE exams.

This workshop will go through common difficulties and pitfalls for French GCSE/iGCSE students when translating from French to English and from English to French, before giving students a chance to put their understanding of this into practice with exercises.
‘General’ Exam Technique for the French GCSE/iGCSE Writing, Listening and Reading Papers

This workshop will cover the most effective exam technique for the French GCSE/iGCSE Writing, Listening and Reading exams, before giving students a chance to put their understanding of this into practice with exercises.

Who are you and why are you suitable to help students to fulfil their potential in French GCSE/iGCSE?
My name is Dhananjay Talwar, I am a full-time tutor and the Director of the tutoring agency Threshold Education.
I have an MA in French and Italian from the University of Cambridge,graduating in 2015.
I have tutored since then. I have taught French to several hundred students over the last 8 years, helping hundreds of students to achieve their target grade in French GCSE and iGCSE.
I have very thorough knowledge of the syllabus and requirements for all French GCSE and iGCSE exam boards.
What is the format of these workshops?
The workshops consist of 8 x 1 hour sessions on Zoom. The modules, as outlined above, will cover harder aspects of French GCSE and iGCSE. They are suitable for all French GCSE/iGCSE students (regardless of the student’s exam board and the student’s exact level/target grade).
Is there anything else I need to know about the structure of the workshops?
Live sessions for each workshop will be group sessions on Zoom. Each one will be recorded and sent to all the parents and students enrolled for that particular workshop immediately afterwards, so they can benefit fully even if they are not able to make that workshop live session!
Who are these workshops suitable for?
The workshops are suitable for students taking French GCSE and iGCSE. Given the focus on exam technique, it is particularly aimed at students who will sit the exams in the summer of 2025. However, French GCSE/iGCSE students in Year 10 and Year 9 will also very much benefit.
What materials will be used in the workshops?
The materials used will largely be taken from past French GCSE/iGCSE papers. All advice given will also be based on French GCSE past papers (across different exam boards) and my considerable experience tutoring French GCSE and iGCSE.
What if the student cannot make the particular session time or will be away for some of the sessions?
The Zoom session for each module will be recorded, with the recordings sent to all students and parents/guardians who have signed up for that particular module shortly afterwards. This means that it is certainly not essential to attend the live session for each module and that students can still benefit fully even if they cannot attend the live session.
Can you guarantee that a student will get a top grade if they follow these workshops?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of exams, no tutor can make guarantees of students achieving a particular grade.
However, I am confident that, if the student applies themselves, particularly in the areas of exam technique that we will focus on, the student can see a boost in their grades and will maximise their potential in French GCSE/iGCSE.

What is the price of the workshops?
The workshops are just £14.99 each or you can pay £99.99 for all 8, which is 1/8 of my standard hourly rate for 1 to 1 lessons.
What is the refund policy?
As there are limited places available for each module, once the student has signed up for, and made payment for, a module/modules, there is a no-refund policy.
What is Threshold Education?
Threshold Education (https://www.thresholdeducation.com) is a tutoring agency run by me with over 150 top-quality tutors for a wide range of subjects and levels. All our tutors have at least 2 years’ tutoring experience and a valid DBS and many have degrees from the universities of Oxford or Cambridge.
